Biography / Background

Dr Hoang Thi Giang Lam has been a lecturer at the Faculty of English, Hanoi National University of Education (HNUE) since 1999. She teaches a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Language Skill Development, British Civilization and Cuture Studies, English Literature, Second Language Research Methodology, Professional Presentation, and Cross Culture Communication. 

She has published in the areas of teacher language alternation, second language learner learning strategies and autonomy, and teacher professional development. Her research interests focus on Teacher Language Alternation, Research Methodology in Applied Linguistics, British Civilization and Culture Studies, English Literature, Second Language Teacher Education, Teacher Professional Development, and Learning Strategies. 

Her PhD thesis at Monash University (Australia) adopts the methods of conversation analysis to investigate recurring patterns of language alternation practices of EFL novice teachers in a Vietnamese tertiary context.
